98% of documents in crude sale transactions fake — NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Sunday announced that about 98 per cent of all documents involved in the sale of crude oil were fake.

It cautioned unsuspecting would-be crude oil buyers to be mindful of the activities of local and international fraudsters in the oil and gas sector.

Missing USS McCain sailors all found

The remains of all 10 sailors who went missing after the USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker collided near Singapore last week have been recovered by divers, the U.S. Navy said Monday.

Navy and Marine Corps divers had been searching in flooded compartments of the destroyer for days after the damaged ship docked in Singapore.

The cause of the Aug. 21 collision is under investigation.

The crash ripped a gash in the McCain’s hull, flooding crew berths and machinery and communications rooms.

The commander of the Navy’s Japan-based 7th Fleet was fired last week after a series of accidents this year raised questions about its operations. The firing of Vice Adm. Joseph Aucoin, a three-star admiral, was a rare dismissal of a high-ranking officer for operational reasons.

The women drew crowds at the weekend when they stripped down and covered themselves in fake blood in a protest against ‘speciesism’ – which they say is an ideology which considers animal lives unworthy of respect because they are another species.

Kenya just imposed the world's toughest law against plastic bags

Kenyans producing, selling or even using plastic bags will risk imprisonment of up to four years or fines of $40,000 from Monday, as the world's toughest law aimed at reducing plastic pollution came into effect.

The East African nation joins more than 40 other countries that have banned, partly banned or taxed single use plastic bags, including China, France, Rwanda, and Italy.

Police warn Enugu drivers, passengers against collecting edibles from strangers

The Police in Enugu State have warned drivers and passengers against collecting edibles from strangers who use drugs on people and dispossess them of their belongings.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ebere Amaraizu, gave the warning in a statement on Sunday in Enugu.
