Late Afrobeat maestro, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s costume will take a fitting place among other world music greats on the renowned Hardrock Cafe Music Me Memorabilia Collection.

The singer’s famous children, Yeni, Femi and Seun Kuti will hand over costumes worn by Fela, including pieces of clothing and shoes to representatives of Hard Rock International in Lagos.

Policemen to serve in communities of origin

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris, said on Tuesday that policemen would soon be deployed to their communities of origin to enhance community policing.

The IGP told a security stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja that the bulk of the 150,000 policemen to be recruited over the next five years would serve in their respective communities.

The book documented her growing up ordeal... a young Christian girl raped and abused by those she trusted. This book is a great read for anyone that has experienced abuse from the ones they loved or would like to be able to help anyone that has gone through such ordeal. Biola Alabi Goes B.I.G As Banana Island Ghost Trailer Arrives

   

On the heels of the movie teaser of Chigul’s (Chioma Omeruah) hilarious prayer for ‘Sumtin BIG’ that went viral a few weeks ago, BAM-NEMSIA Pictures today released the first official trailer of its highly anticipated movie, Banana Island Ghost (B.I.G), written and directed by BB Sasore. The movie trailer was unveiled at the iMax Cinemas in Lekki, Lagos, to a very eager audience of press, media practitioners and industry enthusiasts who all hailed the trailer as “the best from Nollywood yet!”

Why Nigeria-produced rice is more expensive than imported ones – Agric Minister

The Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, on Tuesday gave reasons why imported rice is still cheaper than locally produced rice, despite government efforts.

Mr. Ogbeh, while responding to questions at a Town Hall meeting in Abuja, said one of the major reasons was that most of the imported rice was subsided by the foreign governments.

He said most of the imported rice are from Vietnam, India and Thailand.

Thailand subsidises the export of rice, the minister said.

He explained that the imported rice arrive at about 9,000 per bag, and are then sold at about N13,000 per bag to consumers unlike the local rice sold at about N16,000 per bag.

Senate threatens CBN, NNPC, others over failure to submit budgets

The Senate has threatened to move against Federal Government corporations, agencies and parastatals who have yet to submit their 2017 budgets to the upper chamber.

At plenary on Tuesday, the Senate threatened to bar affected agencies from spending on their capital projects.

Nigerian-born actress wins big at BAFTA

Nigerian born British actress, Wunmi Mosaku has won the British Academy Television Award (BAFTA) for Best Supporting Actress.

The annual awards of the British Academy Television Awards (BAFTAs) was held on Sunday at Royal Festival Hall in London.

Federal Government Amends Charges Against Justice Ngwuta

The Federal Government on Tuesday again amended the corruption charges it preferred against a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, before a before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The added count has to do with the allegation that the defendant gave false information to the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, concerning his diplomatic passport with the purpose of procuring another one.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, has said that the ban of Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) from Lagos road is permanent.

Governor Ambode who disclosed this Tuesday at the commissioning of Pedestrian bridges, layby and slip roads in Ojodu Berger axis also asked officers of the Federal Road Service Corps, (FRSC) to stay off all state roads.

NNPC to resume oil exploration in Lake Chad Basin

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has concluded arrangement to resume oil exploration in the Lake Chad Basin of Borno State.

The Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, yesterday said that the Nigerian Army has given it a “security clearance” towards this.

Baru stated this when he led top management staff of NNPC on a courtesy call on governor Kashim Shettima at the Government House, Maiduguri.

Nigeria inflation rate witnesses decline again

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures inflation declined by 0.02 percent in April, the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, said on Tuesday.

According to the NBS in its new report, the inflation rate, put at 17.24 percent, declined a little further from the 17.26 percent recorded in March .

This represents the third consecutive month of a decline in the headline CPI rate, indicating some easing in high food and non-food prices.

In a statement made available to the media, the bank highlighted the importance to educate children on the cashless policy by showing them how prepaid card transactions work and how to use ATM cards to deposit and withdraw.
