State Viability Index; 36 States Generate N801bn IGR Against N2.6trn from FAAC

The Economic Confidential, the award winning Economic Intelligence Magazine, has released its Annual States Viability Index ( ASVI) which shows that fourteen States are insolvent as their Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) in 2016 were far below 10% of their Federation Account Allocations (FAA) in the same year.

UI shut over students’ protest

The management of the University of Ibadan on Monday shut the institution and directed the students to vacate the campus on or before 6pm.

The News Agency of Nigeria( NAN) reports that the students had earlier taken to the streets of Ibadan in protest, alleging insensitivity on the part of the university management.

Biafra: Ohaneze Ndigbo speaks on IPOB, MASSOB sit-at-home order

John Nwodo, the leader of Ohaneze, the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation has bared his mind on the proposed sit-at-home protest by Biafra separatist groups: the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB.

The IPOB group plans a sit-at-home protest in the south-east and south-south regions of the country on May 30 to coincide with the annual ‘Biafra Remembrance Day,’ as well as honour the memory of pro-Biafra activists killed by security agencies over the years.

Seems Phyno Actually Stole Her Song, PulseNG Claims!

Following the release of ‘I’m a fan’ song which was released on May 26, 2017 by American artiste, Pia Mia, as the song appeared to have been stolen from Nigerian artiste, Phyno who released his version of the song in 2016 featuring Mr. Eazi and Decarlo, a fresh report has indicated that the Nigerian rapper may have pulled a fast one with the early release of the track.

According to PulseNG, Phyno tried pulling a fast one on the owner of the song “I’m A Fan”.

U.S. Based Nigerian Model Sues Wema Bank For N97 million Over Illegal Use Of Photos

A Nigerian model based in the United States of America, Nneoma Anosike, has filed an action against Wema Bank PLC before a Lagos Division of the Federal High Court for allegedly using her photos for commercial purposes without authorization.

Ms Anosike, 22, made the lawsuit through her father, Frank Anosike, who also acted as her lawyer, claiming N97 million as damages.

One of the drivers of the popular Nigerian phone retail outlet, Slot Nigeria Limited, has been arrested by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command over the diversion of N5.95 million worth of laptops, mobile phones and its accessories, just as it assisted in the recovery of N4,654,224 worth of goods from the suspect.

The suspect, Olumide Babajide, 42, from Kwara State, was tracked and arrested in Kaduna State, where he diverted the goods to after taking them from the Slot Nigeria Office based in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos.

Rice Smuggling: FG Threatens To Close Land Borders

The Federal Government on Monday threatened to shut some land borders in Nigeria if the smuggling of rice continues from neighbouring countries.
