DAMASCUS, SYRIA (11:50 A.M.) – According to Amaq Agency, four members
of the Egyptian National Police were shot dead on Tuesday by ISIS
gunmen south of Arish city, the provincial capital of the Sinai
governorate.
The police officers were assassinated while spying on ISIS positions, Amaq Agency added.
The Islamic State has previously conducted dozens of assassinations against Egyptian military personnel in the port city of Arish while the country’s Christian community has been targeted repeatedly by terror attacks.
Although martial law and counter-insurgency operations are underway
throughout the Sinai Peninsula, ISIS continues to boast a large fighting
force which has setup checkpoints in parts of Arish city and regularly raids rival tribes.
