Four killed, five injured in Ogun auto crash

Four persons were killed on Sunday while five others were seriously injured in an auto crash that occurred along the Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway.

The victims were travelling in a Toyota Sienna commercial vehicle with registration number Lagos LND 708 AH.

New Telegraph learnt that the accident occurred when the vehicle crashed into a stationary Mack truck with number plate JJJ 50 XQ, from the rear.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement Sunday evening.

Akinbiyi said the Toyota Sienna travelling from Lagos to the Eastern part of the country, rammed into the truck around the Ijebu Ode axis.

He explained that the accident occurred during a downpour in the early hours of the day.

He, however, blamed it on high speed on the part of the driver, who was among the four who died.
