Buhari Resumes, Receives Briefings From NNPC Boss, Attorney-General

After days of absence, President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday returned to work, holding separate meetings with the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and the Group Managing Director, GMD, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr. Maikati Baru.

The President, who is still recuperating from an undisclosed ailment, had not been to his office for over two weeks. His aides said he was advised to take some off by his doctors.

He received briefing from the NNPC boss on the activities of the corporation and its subsidiaries, and on the relative stability in the country’s oil and gas sector in recent time.

After meeting with the President, Malami, who is in ‎the panel investigating suspended Secretary to the Government of the General of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, told reporters that the final report of the committee probing Lawal and the director-general of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ayo Oke, would be submitted on Wednesday.

He however refused to speak on whether the committee would yield to the calls of not making the report public.

Also speaking with State House correspondents, Baru stated that the volume of oil production in the country now stands at 2 million per barrel per day from the 1.2 million bpd it was earlier. He attributed the oil production increase to the relative peace and stability in the Niger Delta.

The GMD also said that the briefing touched on fuel supply across the country, crude oil and gas productions and the ability of the corporation to supply gas to the power sector.
