A female Sales Manager with Curiosity Underwears Limited, Surulere, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria, Muyibat Adedoyin, Suleiman, 34 is facing trial at the Igbosere Magistrate Court for allegedly conniving with his brother to steal her employer’s N7, 393, 475 proceeds she realized from sales.
Police identified the brother also facing trial with her for the same alleged offence as Oluwatoyin Michael Suleiman, 32. The first defendants, a resident of Alaka Area of Surulere, Lagos and her brother were arrested on the order of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos Adamu Ibrahim following a petition by the management of Curiosity Underwears Limited.
They were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates Court, on a two-count charge of felony to wit. Stealing. Police prosecutor, DSP Eshiet Eshiet had informed the court in charge No. B/39/2017 that the defendants committed the alleged offence between January 2013 and December, 2015 at Curiosity Underwears Limited located at Bode Thomas Street, Surulere, Lagos.
Eshiet told the court that the first defendant betrayed the trust reposed in her by her employer as its sales manager as she sold all her employer’s wears valued at N7, 393, 475 entrusted in her care and converted the proceeds to her personal use using her junior brother as front.
He said that the theft became open when her employer audited its account book leading to their arrest. Eshiet said that during investigation, the first defendant allegedly confessed to the crime that she perpetrated the alleged crime with her brother and that she led the police to arrest her brother.
He said that the offences committed were punishable under section 409 and 285 (1) (7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2017.
The defendants denied the police allegations in the open court and were granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum who must deposit the sum of N250, 000 each in the court registrar’s account.
Magistrate B.I Bakare adjourned the case till 14 September, 2017.
