Girls Trip: The Review

By Zizi

After seeing many teasing thrillers I went to see ‘’GIRLS TRIP’’ and it is the most hilarious movie I have seen this year hands down.

The story follows the lives of four best friends Dina the wild one and my favorite(Tiffany Hadish), Ryan the boss lady(Regina Hall), Lisa the mom(, Jada Pinkett Smith )and Sasha the gossip(Queen Latifah), who decide to go on a girl trip to New Orleans for the Essence festival, after losing contact for a while. There they re-connect, go over hurts, bitterness  and issues and reconnect with their old selves while having what would be the most memorable experiences of their lives. With cast like these and a director like Malcolm D. Lee you can only expect a great experience of comedy and drama.

The major key points were women empowerment and of course letting go and loosening up, while these two don’t exactly complement each other it worked well for the movie. Most people wouldn’t see how a pack of girls going wild is empowering, but it wasn’t really just that. I mean they went wild sure enough but they mostly relied on themselves, they were all single and the one who was staying married because she thought she couldn’t succeed on her own learnt that she could and did.
There were both the elements of fun and a strong message of self-love.
