Children of Mud: The Review

Children of Mud is Imoh Umoren's 4th Feature film. It is a story about street kids who are thrown out by their Families. Specifically it centers on Emem and her blind brother Miracle who are chased out of the house by their misguided Aunt and they go in search of a Miracle. The story of street kids is a huge concern in Nigeria with kids of school age either hawking on the streets or forced to leave home.

Children of Mud is a Nollywood story about love, hope and overcoming obstacles. It was filmed primarily in Lagos and Abeokuta and features Nollywood veteran Liz Benson now Liz Ameye, TV Sweetheart Matilda Obaseki, Big Brother Housemate Bassey Ekpenyong, and some brilliant children actors.

Children of Mud is written by Imoh Umoren and is a collaborative effort between Rucksack Production and Grand Explorers with Ify Egbera and Dr. Wale Boje as producers. It was filmed on the Red Dragon camera with prime lenses.

This film shows the realities of many children in Nigeria today, Umoren touches on vagrants. He centers his film playing with our emotions through his characterization and his presentation of the people on the screen. An air of hope comes to life as his audience take in the scenes. You would find yourself been drawn to the characters on screen wishing more than ever, that they find their happiness, that they find a good home.

A release date is yet to be announced.
