‘How military officials benefit from fight against Boko Haram’

While the Federal Government and the victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East count their losses, some military officials are profiting from the crisis.

This was the position of Transparency International as it released a report on the crisis. But the defence headquarters yesterday strongly dismissed the report as false and that it was meant to weaken the fight against terrorism.

Customs Donates Seized Rice to IDPs - Outgoing Comptroller Kankara

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Eastern Marine Command has donated bags of seized rice to Internally Displaced People’s (IDPs) Camps rather than auctioning them to the public.
 
The out-going Controller in charge of the Customs Eastern Marine Command with headquarters in Port Harcourt, River State, Comptroller Usman Bello Kankara stated this during a valedictory service in his honour organised by Head of Federal Government Agencies in Rivers State.

EFCC Arraigns Suspected Land Racketeer for N86m Fraud (PHOTO)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, May 18, 2017 arraigned one Ikechucwu Duru before Justice A. O. Otaluka of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Lugbe, Abuja on one-count charge of obtaining by false pretence.
 
Duru is alleged to have, between 2012 and 2013 “in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, by false pretence and with intent to defraud obtained the sum of N86million from Alhaji Aliyu Idris Shuaibu under the pretext of re-instatement of plot No 4 Cadastral Zone C10 located at Wumba District and allocation of a new plot of land”.

Suicide bombers killed in attempt to attack female hostel of University of Maiduguri

Three male suicide-bombers were killed while attempting to attack a female hostel in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Thursday night.

PRNigeria reports that one of the three suicide-bombers carried an AK 47 gun. At least two bombs exploded during the attack.
