Evander Holyfield Storms Lagos, Set To Fight Tinubu

Boxing Legend, Evander Holyfield has arrived Lagos and is ready to fight a former Governor of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Holyfield visited the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday and was lauded by the Governor who described the five-time world cruiserweight and heavyweight boxing champion as the greatest living boxer of all times.

APC to hold Convention without Buhari

Finally, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded plans to hold its non elective mini convention in the absence of the President, Muhammadu Buhari. The party reached the agreement after a consultative meeting of the APC governors and the members of National Working Committee (NWC) Wednesday.
 

N84.6 Fraud: EFCC arraigns Wonder Bank operator

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday at the Federal High Court, Enugu arraigned the operator of a well-known wonder bank in Enugu, Kingsley Ubenyi and his company, Ksley Mega Vision Limited on a 62-count charge bordering on  illegal operation of a financial institution and obtaining the sum N84,600,000  from hundreds of victims.

Libyan authorities say they have arrested Hashem Abedi, the younger brother of Manchester attacker Salman Abedi, in Tripoli on suspicion of links to Isis.

A local counter terror force known as Rada detained Mr Abedi, 20, on Tuesday evening.

Finally! Court grants former NNPC boss, Yakubu, permission to travel abroad

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday granted Andrew Yakubu, former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Mr. Yakubu was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on a six-count charge of money laundering and false declaration of asset.

The Defence Headquarters on Wednesday dismissed rumours of coup plot and urged Nigerians not to panic, as there was no such attempt.

Supreme Court confirms Messi fraud sentence

Spain’s Supreme Court on Wednesday confirmed a 21-month jail sentence and 2.09-million-euro ($2.25 million) fine imposed on Lionel Messi for tax fraud, months after the Barcelona football star lodged an appeal.

The Argentina international and his father Jorge Horacio Messi were in  July 2016 found guilty of using companies in Belize, Britain, Switzerland and Uruguay to avoid paying taxes on 4.16 million euros of Messi’s income earned from his image rights from 2007-09.

Three female suicide bombers die in another attack on Maiduguri

Three teenage girls, all armed with explosive devices worn around their bodies, on Tuesday evening detonated their explosives at the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as security operatives tried to stop them from entering the city, police said.

Multiple explosions reverberated across Maiduguri during the late evening rush hour forcing vehicles to screech to a halt as commuters tried to figure from which area the attack may been coming.

One dead as container falls in Lagos

One person was confirmed dead on Tuesday after a trailer conveying a 40-foot container fell at Motorways bus stop, outward Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The trailer, with registration number LSD 379 XT, developed a mechanical fault and fell on the road leaving the driver and motor boy trapped, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
