Kogi court reinstates suspended lawmaker, Friday Sanni Makama


The Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has set aside the suspension of the member representing Igalamela Odolu constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honorable Friday Sanni Makama.

Justice Henry Olusuyi in his judgement said the suspension of the lawmaker was an act of legislative insolence which will not be allowed by any competent court of jurisdiction.

A six-month-old baby was found dead in her mother’s arms after being killed by fumes as they attempted to flee down the stairs in Grenfell Tower, an inquest has heard.

Leena Belkadi was the youngest member of the family to die in the fire, which also killed her parents and sister.

Former Israeli Prime Minister wins early release from prison

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who is serving a 27-month prison term for corruption, won parole on Thursday, one of his lawyers said.

Israel Radio reported that Olmert could be freed as early as Sunday after a parole board decided to cut his sentence by a third, a common practice in Israel for prisoners who have not committed violent crimes.

Nigeria’s Yuonov Frederick Agah has been reappointed as Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for another four-year term.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr. Agah, who hails from Benue, was first appointed as Deputy Director-General of WTO in 2013 for a four-year term, which he assumed on October 1 that year.
