Presidency should convoke another national dialogue, says Shehu Sani

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to convoke a national dialogue by
all geopolitical zones in the country.

Sani, in a Facebook post on Monday, said the dialogue, which he tagged as the ‘kolanut formula’ for peace in Nigeria, was for intellectual discourse between all parts of the country.

The post read, “President Muhammadu Buhari or Acting President Osinbajo should constitute a national dialogue committee made up of eminent and respectable Nigerians from all the geopolitical zones chaired by a non-partisan elder statesman.

“The committee will engage all groups from all parts of the country with grievances and facilitate dialogue between them and report to the government on the progress. The committee should facilitate intellectual discourse of ideas between groups and ensure handshakes and breaking of kola nuts for peace. Since kolanuts is acceptable in all parts of Nigeria, it should symbolise unity and intervention for peace. This approach I call it ‘kola nuts formula’ for peace and unity in Nigeria.”
